Lily walked up to the Owlery to send yet another letter her sister wouldn't answer unless she felt like saying something particularly nasty or she had some real news... news that would probably make Lily feel awful like her sister "falling for" that dolt, Vernon. She barely even new the tub of lard and all he ever did was rag on Lily day in and day out.
Lily could just imagine what it would be like if they actually got married, however far that was from now. Together, they'd take the mickey out of her for even the smallest slip-up... but she didn't want to think of it that way... She shouldn't be thinking of her sister like that. Petunia was not as mean as she let on... she was just hurting and Lily knew it.
That was why she continued to send her a letter every week saying anything she could... telling her that she loved and missed her sister dearly even when she was terrible to her. She wanted to keep some semblance of a normal relationship between them.
Sending off two separate letters, one to her parents and one to Petunia, Lily leaned on the window ledge and watched the owls disappear into the morning sky. A slight breeze played at her face, sending strands of brilliant red hair dancing in the wind as she stared off into the sky. With a sigh, she turned her gaze downward and watched the tiny figures parading about the school grounds.
